Scoot, everyone’s favourite option for a budget getaway, has indicated that it will raise prices by about 5% on average, in order to cope with rising jet fuel costs. According to Scoot, fuel prices consists 32% of its cost, and there has been more than a 30% rise in fuel prices in comparison to a year ago. In order to continue to keep costs low, Scoot has said that it will review its supplier contracts, implement measures to improve productivity, and continue to keep their manpower lean. Singapore Airlines, parent company of Scoot, has said that it will not raise its fares, and keep its airfare pricing dynamic, determined by supply and demand. Will this deter budget holiday-goers from taking Scoot flights? We don’t think so. 🙂
