From April 30 – May 10, representatives from more than 190 countries will meet for climate talks in Bonn, Germany. The aim of this conference is to bring to life the world’s only climate treaty pledge, the 2015 Paris Agreement. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, countries agreed to keep global warming under 2 deg C and prevent man-made CO2 from leaking into the atmosphere by the century’s end. At Bonn, countries will decide how much emissions each will cut, and how much the richer nations will finance climate-saving initiatives. However, experts say that a lot still needs to be done in terms of pledges to reduce carbon pollution, because what we have now will lead to a 3 deg C world. It would be nice for Singapore to snow, but that’s not normal and is an indication that climate saving initiatives need to step up.
