On Saturday morning (April 21), a 50-year-old man was arrested at Woodlands checkpoint for drink driving. While the police refused to give further details about the suspect when asked by local reporters, the man was identified to be SMRT Trains Chief Operations Officer Alvin Kek. Before assuming his current position, Mr Kek was a former Chief Engineer Officer with the Singapore Armed Forces, and previously held the position of SMRT’s senior vice president for rail operations (North-South and East-West Lines). At the moment, the situation is under police investigation, and yet to be officially disclosed by SMRT, due to the involvement of Mr Kek’s “personal matter”.
