The International Association of Athletes Federation (IAAF) has decided to maintain its position on suspending Russia’s participation in international athletics, despite having recognized progress in the country’s cooperation in ongoing investigations. It seems that getting off the hook will require more effort as Russian authorities have yet to come clean and give access to the records of doping tests carried out by the Russian anti-doping agency (Rusada) from 2011 to 2015. In addition, the IAAF demanded reimbursement from the Russian Athletic Federation (RUSAF), due to the financial costs incurred from the investigations. After having denied any state-sponsored doping program in the past, this gridlock might eventually cost the Russians another medal or two (hundred).
