US Special Counsel Robert Mueller has officially submitted a recommendation to the courts, proposing a sentence of not more than six months for George Papadopoulos, who has been charged with lying to federal investigators. According to a memorandum submitted to the judge by the Mueller team, Papadopoulos gave false information to investigators, undermining their ability to pursue leads in their investigations with regards to Russian meddling in the 2016 Presidential Elections. In October 2017, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to FBI investigators and is now awaiting his sentence which is due in September this year. Apart from that, two other ex-Trump campaign officials have admitted to lying to federal investigators, including National Security Advisor Michael Flynn who fell from grace just after 23 days on the job.
