Most US presidents wait a bit before they launch their re-election campaign, but Donald Trump did something a bit unusual. He launched his 2020 bid as soon as he was sworn into office. Currently, his political war chest holds more than $88 million dollars. This amount has been raised by his campaign committee as well as two groups affiliated with the Republican party; Trump Victory and Trump Make America Great Again. Past-presidents tended to wait until after their mid-term elections to launch their reelection campaign, but because of his pre-mature bid, Trump has an early financial advantage over rivals. While Trump has had large donations such as the $399,000 from Texan Baker, a good portion of his donations were in denominations below $200 from grassroots American. Let’s see if he can get the same amount of support to get himself past the primaries.
