This Saturday, August 18, marks the opening of the new Sengkang General Hospital, the biggest new hospital with 1,000 beds. Its attached community hospital is due to open on the 28 of August, and together, both hospitals will add 1,400 available beds. “As our population ages, we will see increased demand for healthcare services,” said Health Minister Mr Gan Kim Yong at the announcement of the new hospitals, which will give North-east Singaporeans better access to quality and affordable healthcare. He adds that the Government has been dedicated to building more healthcare facilities to meet the growing demand. The next public general hospital, the Woodlands Hospital, is due to open in 2022.
